Stalham Firehouse Museum

Stalham Firehouse opened in 1833 and is understood to be one of the oldest organised Fire Brigades in Britain.

See our wonderful collection of historical fire brigade related items including an original horse drawn pump engine. Ring the firebells, try on the helmets, have your photo taken by Mum or Dad! Gain an insight into how our modern fire service came about.

Our volunteers are on hand with a good humoured wealth of knowledge to guide, explain and enhance your visit.

Admission is FREE, although any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

History of the Stalham Firehouse Museum

The Firehouse was restored in 2002 and the Museum opened in November that year.

The purpose of Museum is to repair, restore, improve and preserve the building and contents of historical importance and make them available for public viewing. The Stalham Firehouse Museum is run entirely by volunteers.

Can you help?

There were Norfolk Firefighters who were called up in World War 1 and World War 2, and possibly the Korean War and killed in action.  If this was one of your relatives, we would love to hear from you in memory of those firefighters and with your permission we will inform the Firefighters Memorial Trust.

We would also like to be able to record all fallen Norfolk firefighters in the line of duty from any period.

Do you have any anecdotes you would like to share?  We would really like to hear from anyone whose relatives served in Stalham Fire Brigade so that we can display them in a folder. Contact kayemackinnon@outlook.com 01692 582781.
